Personal Statement:
I am a first-generation college student from both sides of my family, and my decision to go to college was influenced by my move to the United States and the endless opportunities afforded to me here. I was always interested in history, as it was my favorite subject throughout my school years, and my passion for understanding how things work and how things came to be reinforced my passion to study the past. My dream career has always been to teach. As I got to explore many opportunities throughout my undergraduate and graduate careers, I realized that beyond just my love for teaching and studying history, I also love higher education and its impact. During my undergrad and graduate school, I worked with first-year students in both mentoring and teaching roles, and I am excited to bring those skills into my Compass advisor role and to further grow both personally and professionally.
