The Office of University Events and Conference Services provides resources for members of the Salve Regina community and the general public who are planning events and weddings on our oceanside campus in Newport, Rhode Island. Inquire about our event spaces which include Our Lady of Mercy Chapel, a dignified venue for Catholic ceremonies, and the 19th-century mansion Ochre Court, which offers a stunning backdrop for wedding receptions as well as other events, such as fundraisers hosted by nonprofit organizations.

With the exception of academic classes, athletic events and student activities, all Salve Regina events are scheduled through the Office of University Events and Conference Services. Conference and event space is available for groups legally connected with the University, groups that can demonstrate an affiliation or relationship with a Salve Regina office or department, and nonprofit organizations. Space on campus is not intended for individual use.

Wedding Ceremonies

As a Catholic institution, wedding ceremonies at Salve Regina are performed in Our Lady of Mercy Chapel. This classic wedding venue is inspired by Salve Regina’s coastal landscape and the historic Newport architecture that surround it. Catholic ceremonies may be reserved by Salve Regina graduates and current full-time students, faculty and staff. Those who have no current affiliation to the University may also reserve a Catholic ceremony in Our Lady of Mercy Chapel, provided dates are available.

Wedding Photos at Ochre Court

Wedding photos may be taken both inside and outside of Ochre Court for a total of one hour. One of Newport’s largest 19th-century mansions, Ochre Court is a striking background for a variety of wedding-related photography. Photo sessions can be booked one month in advance of the requested date. The fee for Salve Regina graduates, children of Salve Regina graduates and current full-time students, faculty and staff is $375. The fee for those with no affiliation to the University is $475. Photo sessions are expected to complement the character and mission of Salve Regina University.

Wedding Receptions and Rehearsal Dinners

Wedding Receptions at Ochre Court

Salve Regina graduates, children of Salve Regina graduates, and current full-time students, faculty and staff may reserve Ochre Court for wedding receptions. Wedding receptions are scheduled year-round, based on venue availability. The fee for a wedding reception is $15,000, which includes use of the building for a five-hour reception, tables, chairs, setup and breakdown, and wedding planning support leading up to and during the reception. Sodexo Catering Services is the required caterer.

Rehearsal Dinners at Ochre Court

Salve Regina graduates, children of Salve Regina graduates, and current full-time students, faculty and staff may reserve Ochre Court for rehearsal dinners. Rehearsal dinners are scheduled year-round, based on availability. The fee for a rehearsal dinner is $3,500, which includes the use of the venue for a three-hour dinner, tables, chairs, setup and breakdown, and staff support leading up to and during the dinner. Sodexo Catering Services is the required caterer.

Private Events at Salve Regina

Private event and/or conference space is available for groups legally connected with Salve Regina, groups affiliated with a Salve Regina office or department, and nonprofit organizations. Typically, campus spaces like Ochre Court and the Young Building are available for weekend rentals only. Space on campus is not intended for individual use.

All private events, including fundraisers, receptions and concerts, are expected to complement the character and mission of Salve Regina University.
