Feinstein Enriching America Program
Salve Regina considers participation in community service a visible way to live the mission of the University. Students are required to serve at least 10 hours within the state of Rhode Island prior to graduation, allowing them to share their talents with those in need and learn more about themselves and the community they call home.
Community service can include working with children or the elderly, volunteering in a sports-oriented atmosphere or in local soup kitchens, helping with food drives, working with animals, tutoring, assisting with environmental projects and more.
The office maintains an extensive inventory of service opportunities and facilitates transportation to service sites. Projects not offered through the office must be approved before they can be considered appropriate for a community service experience.
The Feinstein Enriching America Program at Salve Regina is made possible through the generosity of Alan Shawn Feinstein and the Feinstein Foundation.
"Stepping Out of Darkness" Pants Drive
The Office of Community Service's annual "Stepping Out of Darkness" pants drive will run through Saturday, March 25. The goal is to collect 1,100 pairs of new or gently used pants that will be used in an exhibition during SRyou on Wednesday, March 29. After the exhibition, the pants will be donated to local community members.
Students, faculty and staff are invited to drop off pants at the Office of Community Service, located in Wakehurst, Room 201. For larger donations, call (401) 341-2440 to schedule a pickup.
