The nursing program at Salve Regina University was established in 1948 and has maintained an innovative approach to nursing education for baccalaureate prepared nurses to meet today's challenges in the healthcare environment. The program prepares professional nurses with the Bachelor of Science degree through two tracks: the generic four year track and the RN-BS track for licensed nurses.
As Chairperson to the Department of Nursing since August 2006, I have enjoyed this exciting journey and embraced this new role. I welcome the opportunity to lead this department during a challenging, but exciting time in nursing and nursing education as we prepare graduates for complex and expanding roles in nursing and healthcare.
The Salve Regina University nursing faculty is committed and working hard while many are engaged in their individual programs of research to advance our nursing profession. In addition, they are dedicated teachers and leaders in community service. We are blessed to work with bright students, deeply committed to making the world a better place.
We hope the website offers you a glimpse into the department of nursing, the faculty and students, and provides you with needed information. We are deliberate in the department of nursing in keeping with the traditions of the Sisters of Mercy to encourage students to work for a world that is harmonious, just, and merciful. Nursing is poised to prepare students for the challenge of learning throughout their lives.
