Minor in Biology
Students completing a minor in
biology take a minimum of six courses (20-24 credits).
Required courses:
- General Biology I and II or Human
Anatomy and Physiology I and II
Students choose four
additional biology courses in consultation with the department chair. Chemistry
I and II may be substituted for two of the biology courses with permission from
the department chair.
Minor in Environmental Studies
Students completing a minor in
environmental studies take a minimum of seven courses (minimum 24 credits).
Required courses:
- Humans and the Environment
- Conservation Ecology
- Ecology
Students choose two additional courses from a short list
of biology offerings and two additional interdisciplinary courses from a short
list of offerings.
Minor in Neuroscience
The minor in neuroscience is designed for students
interested in exploring the brain, nervous system and behavior. Designed to
complement any majors, the minor is geared toward students planning on pursuing
graduate study in biology, psychology or neuroscience, or for those with a
serious interest in the field.
Students majoring in biology complete Introduction to
Psychology and General Biology I and II, while students majoring in nursing
complete Introduction to Psychology and Human Anatomy and Physiology I and II. Students not majoring in biology or nursing
complete Introduction to Psychology, Human Biology and Cell Biology and
Chemistry.
Students completing a minor in
neuroscience take a minimum of 10 courses (27-29 credits).
Required courses:
- Psychology of Learning and
Behavior
- Physiological Psychology
- Hormones and Behavior
- Neuroscience
- Experiments in Neuroscience
Students choose two additional courses from a short list of biology,
biochemistry and psychology offerings.
