What's My Why?

I knew that I wanted to be a teacher early on in my life: I always enjoyed explaining things to my family and friends. Art was my first love - being able to be creative with no pressure or outside opinions was always fun for me, and looking at other people's art was fascinating. I went into art because of my love for art and art history. Little did I know that I loved teaching it even more. I became passionate about teaching art history and making it fun and interesting for my K-12 students. Then, I realized that I loved reading and writing just as much, so I decided to go back to college to get my M.A. in English to be able to teach composition at a higher level. Once I began teaching community college, I fell in love with it. I loved meeting people from all over the world and helping them to learn how to read and write better in English. Their intrinsic happiness with their improvements made me beyond happy.

Professional Experience

Besides my love for teaching art and English, I also love to travel. I am considered "well traveled" because I have been to many other countries and I also traveled and worked online during COVID-19 from my camper/RV. I have been to every state in the continental United States except North Dakota. That was the best experience because I was able to wake up in a different place weekly and maintain my career at the same time. I met so many wonderful people and ate all new foods as well. I am currently working on my book, which will describe that incredible journey.
