What's My Why?
I teach to empower young people as critical thinkers and creative problem-solvers. My courses foster visual literacy, experiential learning and innovation. I encourage our students to embrace the studio art and art history curriculum as a dynamic space to research, re-imagine, reflect, discover and grow.
Professional Experience
I exhibit my work extensively, and my paintings and drawings have been featured in galleries and museums worldwide, included in shows at the Museum of Modern Art PS1 in New York, the New Britain Museum of American Art in Connecticut, the Rhode School of Design Museum, and Brown University’s Bell Gallery. Critical writing on my work has appeared in ArtNews Magazine, Tema Celeste, the New York Times and other journals. I received three fellowships from the Rhode Island State Council on the Arts and two Antone Award grants. My current body of paintings and collage drawings, called "Erased Landscapes," explores the relationship between memory and landscape.
