What's My Why?
As a clinical social worker, I appreciate educational practices that focus on collaboration within and across departments. It is wonderful to see how social work majors and human services minors explore courses and co-curricular opportunities outside their major to deepen their understanding of the human condition. I love mentoring students and exposing them to the many fields of social work practice and helping them to use their gifts to improve the quality of life of others.
Professional Experience
I began my journey in social work advocating for juveniles involved in the Boston court system. From there, I worked with at-risk teens in an emergency shelter and then started a host home program for youth in Portsmouth, Rhode Island. I have extensive experience working in the field of domestic violence, including working with survivors and their children. I’ve also had the privilege of counseling women experiencing a cancer diagnosis and helping them to navigate the health care system and survivorship. I have a passion for community-engaged learning both domestically and globally, and I am collaborating with other mercy social work programs to augment our collective course offerings that focus on the critical concerns and international policy and practice.
