What's My Why?

Encountering the heart-centered and mindful approach to expressive and creative arts at Salve feels like home to me. Here I can deeply integrate and offer my longtime interests in multi-modal and inter-modal elements and creative arts process, in service of helping to create a more compassionate, imaginative and harmonious world. Integrating elements of visual journaling and imagery with embodiment, movement, story and sound becomes a tapestry for each person to discover. I’m moved each time I witness how this holistic, interdisciplinary approach to the arts offers hope to individuals, groups and communities, for healing and transformation.

Professional Experience

I have worked with holistic approaches to wellness, integrating mindfulness practices with multi-modal expressive and creative arts in a broad range of settings for 30+ years. I serve as program coordinator and a core faculty member in Salve’s professional training program in the expressive and creative arts, part of the holistic graduate programs, in the Department of Counselor Education and Expressive Arts, dedicated to training counselors, educators, social workers, health care practitioners and other helping professionals in utilizing the arts and holistic practices for personal growth and well-being. I have supported local communities as an expressive arts facilitator, registered drama therapist, certified yoga teacher and yoga therapist, sound healing artist and performing artist. Through integrative and interdisciplinary approaches, I seek to elucidate ways that mindfulness, embodiment, somatic awareness, movement, storytelling, sound, rhythm, music and all the arts contribute to supporting individual and collective well-being.
