WAKEHURST STUDENT CENTER
The Living Room of Campus

The Wakehurst student center is the living room of the Salve Regina campus. It provides space for students, faculty and staff to relax and socialize in an atmosphere that is friendly and comfortable. Below are descriptions of some of the unique spaces in the center.

First Floor

Commuter Lounge
Offering a variety of seating styles, the commuter lounge is a place to relax away from the academic mainstream. Many evenings, the lounge’s 75-person capacity is used to present comedy, novelty and musical acts for the student body. During the daytime hours, the lounge offers a quiet dining location for patrons of the Global Café.

Global Café
The Global Café offers members of the university community an alternative to the Miley cafeteria plan. The Global’s menu includes breakfast items, such as bagels and egg sandwiches’ lunch items including hamburgers and French fries, and a dinner menu featuring “value meals” similar to fast food chains. Global Café’s hours of operation.

The Garden Level

Billiard Room
The centerpiece of this room is a fully reconditioned regulation size Sterling billard table. In addition, students may choose to shoot darts on the electronic board, play foosball or just watch television.

The Cave
A feature unique to Wakehurst is its home video game room called “The Cave.” The former wine cellar has been equipped with a 32” television. PlayStation II and Nintendo 64 game consoles and stereo surround sound. The result is a stunning sensory overload for the avid video game player.

Movie Theatre
The Wakehurst TV/Movie Theatre accommodates up to 30 people. The seating, lighting and sound are all modeled after commercial theatre amenities. Students can choose to watch programming from satellite, cable, VCR or DVD. The movie theatre is used throughout the year to offer pay-per-view specials as well as weekly film series.

Student Organization Resource Room/Mosaic Office
Student organizations have access to a shared resource room. The room features Macintosh computers for use in designing publicity materials, as well as for checking club e-mail. There are also phones, a fax machine, poster paper and a photocopier for club use. The student newspaper, The Mosaic, also has its office in this space.

University Mailroom
All students residing on campus are assigned a university mailbox. Located in the mailroom lobby, mailboxes can be accessed any time the student center is open. Hours for package pick-up are posted in the lobby. The Bank of Newport also maintains an Automated Teller Machine (ATM) in the mailroom lobby.
