WAKEHURST STUDENT CENTER

The Wakehurst Student Center is a multi-purpose facility that serves the needs and interests of students, faculty and staff at Salve Regina University. Managed by the office of student activities, the center is a comfortable place to relax, participate in campus activities or grab a bite to eat.

The Wakehurst estate was built for James J. Van Alen between 1882 and 1888, and is modeled after a 16 th century English renaissance manor house that still stands today in Ardingly, West Sussex, England. Both Wakehurst's design and detailing typify the exceptional craftsmanship and elegance characteristic of Newport's "Gilded Age." The building has been designated an official project of the Save America's Treasures by the National Trust for Historic Preservation.

Wakehurst has made the successful transition from manor house to student center without sacrificing its historic past. The student center remains a special place to gather with friends, faculty and colleagues in the heart of the campus.

HOURS

Academic Year (September – May)
Mondays thru Fridays 8 a.m. – 12 a.m.
Saturdays and Sundays 12 p.m. – 12 a.m.

NOTE: The building is closed on official holidays and during scheduled academic breaks; hours subject to change due to building manager staffing.

Summer (June – August)
Mondays thru Thursdays 8 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Fridays 8 a.m. – 1 p.m.
Saturdays and Sundays Closed
