STUDENT ACTIVITIES

STUDENT INVOLVEMENT

Life is what you make it.  The same can be said for your experience at Salve Regina University.  You can sit on the sidelines or you can jump in and take full advantage of the learning opportunities that exist outside of the classroom.

The Office of Student Activities is committed to help students identify meaningful co-curricular experiences that complement their academic and personal goals.  Research shows that students who engage in co-curricular activities perform better academically, develop marketable leadership skills and express a higher degree of satisfaction with their college experience when compared with students who are not involved.

The ten best reasons to get involved at Salve are:

  • use time and energy constructively;
  • meet new people and develop lasting friendships;
  • develop effective interpersonal skills;
  • clarify personal values;
  • be of service to others;
  • develop an appreciation for differences;
  • develop marketable leadership skills;
  • find an outlet for experimentation and creative thought;
  • learn to work well in groups; and
  • have fun; enjoy your college experience.

Student Activities can connect you with the activities and organizations that best meet your needs and interests.  We want you to look back on your four years of college with pride and a sense of accomplishment.  Take advantage of the co-curricular opportunities Salve has to offer.  You won't regret it!

Student Quotes

“Getting involved is the best thing a student can do.  Students should challenge themselves to step out of their comfort zone and join a club, try-out for an athletic team or attend campus events.”

  • Chris Whynock (09); SGA Senate, varsity football, orientation leader

“My co-curricular involvement has given me the confidence I need to succeed in the future.  I’ve learned a lot about myself, how to manage my time and speak in public.”

  • Liz Pelletier (08); Campus Activities Board, Sigma Phi Sigma, Wakehurst building manager, cheerleader, orientation leader

For more information about co-curricular involvement opportunities at Salve Regina contact Bart Carithers, director of student activities, by calling 341-2225 or stop by the office in 012 Wakehurst Student Center.
