Battle of the Bands

Salve Regina University will host a Battle of the Bands competition at 8pm Saturday, September 8 at the Jane Pickens Theatre in Newport, Rhode Island. The Battle of the Bands will serve as the final event for the annual Welcome Week celebration for new and returning students. However, the show is open to the general public.

Each band will play a 20 minute set. Performance order will be determined by a drawing prior to the event. A panel of five judges will score the bands using the following criteria: musicianship, stage presence, originality, audience response, song writing, professionalism and overall entertainment. The judges represent area businesses and media outlets.

The top three bands will receive cash prizes and, in addition, the winning band will have the opportunity for a return date in November. For more information contact the Office of Student Activities at 401-341-2225.
