The Student Activities Office / Student Center Office

This office is staffed by the director and assistant director of student activities. The student activities office (SAO) assists recognized student organizations in providing social, cultural and educational programming for the campus. The SAO also assists students in creating new clubs and organizations. The office is a resource for all students interested in leadership development, event planning and promotion, creativity, publicity and games.Management of the Wakehurst student center is also handled by the student center office. Both day and night building managers operate from this space, signing out game room equipment and assisting patrons with accessing other building spaces.

Office of Student Activities

Salve Regina University promotes co-curricular involvement by encouraging students to form organizations that meet student needs, support the mission of the University and contribute to the quality of campus life.
A list of recognized student organizations is provided below. Students interested in forming new clubs and organizations should contact Bart Carithers, director of student activities, in 006 Wakehurst Student Center (phone: 401-341-2225).

Campus Governance & Activities

Campus Activities Board (CAB)
CAB is a volunteer student organization that designs and implements a wide range of student activities that include live comedy shows, coffeehouses, dances, off-campus trips and recreational activities.

Residence Hall Association (RHA)
RHA seeks to involve resident students in the governance of the residence halls and to build a positive sense of community on campus.

Student Government Association (SGA)
SGA represents the interests and general concerns of students and works with the University community to improve the quality of life on campus.

Campus Media

Mosaic Newspaper
Mosaic, published monthly, is a student-run newspaper that includes campus news, features, editorials and sports.

Willow Literary Journal
Willow is a student-produced literary magazine published each semester that accepts submissions from students, faculty and staff that include poetry, short stories and artwork.

Cultural & Ethnic

Multicultural Student Organization (MSO)
MSO provides a social atmosphere in which to explore other cultures through cultural dinners, retreats and special presentations.

One World Society
One World promotes unity among all students including international and non-traditional students.

Performing Arts

Dance Company
The Dance Company choreographs dance routines for performances both on and off campus audiences.

Stagefright Theatre Company
Stagefright is a student-run company that performs for both the University and local communities.

Circle K, sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Newport, offers members opportunities for leadership development, service and friendship.

VIRGO is a peer education program that sponsors campus programs of pertinent social, physical and emotional health issues.

Equestrian Club
The Equestrian Club is intended to provide a competitive riding experience for students interested in horse riding.

Surf Club
The Surf Club offers students interested in surfing the opportunity to develop their skills and learn more about the sport.

Academic & Professional

Accounting Club
The Accounting Club enhances students' preparation for careers in the field of accounting.

Administration of Justice Club
ADJ designs fun and interesting activities for those students interested in the criminal justice field.

American Marketing Association
AMA fosters scientific study and research in the field of marketing, develops sound thinking in marketing theory and improves public understanding and appreciation for marketing.

The English Guild works to enhance the understanding and appreciation of literature and media for English majors and minors.

Orpheus Musical Society
Orpheus assists the choral director in the leadership of the Univers4 choruses and promotes an appreciation for music across campus.

Psychology Club
The Psychology Club provides members with support and guidance based on their common interest in behavioral sciences.

Social Work Club
The Social Work Club provides social work services to the local community and awareness on campus of relevant social issues.

Student Association of Interdisciplinary Life Sciences (SAILS)
SAILS enhances the knowledge, creativity, skills and judgment of its members and to the promotion of the Life Sciences including biology, cytotechnology, medical technology, chemistry and nursing.

Student Nursing Organization
SNO serves the Newport community with regard to health related issues.
