What is an SRU Dancer?

SRU Dance is the largest student run organization on campus.  Boasting over 120 members, this successful student group is led by 6 executive board members: two senior captains, two junior captains, one business manager and one public relations director.

Since its establishment in the 1990s, SRU Dance has continued to grow and gain campus-wide support through its reputation for creativity, showcased in their semiannual productions as well as their dedication to helping the community.

Both males and females participate in this thriving organization, which incorporates a plethora of dance genres.  Dancers from all backgrounds are embraced and encouraged to spread their unique gifts of physical artistry with their fellow dancers.  Competitive dancers teach newer participants creative movements and the fresh talent encourages a burgeoning atmosphere of learning and amusement.

Pointe, ballet, hip-hop, lyrical, modern, contemporary, Irish Step, belly dancing, jazz, tap and countless other new styles are innovated and promoted into glory in this organization.  Dancers are persuaded in the discovery of new movement and friendships are born in an environment of creativity.
