2007-2008 EXECUTIVE BOARD
Name: Tony Vellucci Position: President Class year: 2008 Major: History and cultural and historic preservation Goals for SGA: To make members of SGA as well as the greater student body aware of the constantly evolving atmosphere of university life and then channel that awareness and involvement into constructive activities that will last their years in college and also give those who are involved with SGA the tools necessary to excel in a post-graduate world. Other involvement on campus: CHP Club and Model United Nations One thing you truly like about Salve Regina: The people who make it happen; their energy and involvement is an inspiration to others to become a part of something greater than themselves.
Name: Shane Murray Position: Vice president Class year: 2009 Major: Business administration and Spanish Goals for SGA: To continue improving the quality of the food on campus and accommodate students' needs by promptly responding to their concerns. Last year I was a very active member of the dining services committee and I am confident that I will be successful in this area throughout the entire academic year. Other involvement on campus: Co-captain of the men's cross country team One thing you truly like about Salve Regina: The overall friendly atmosphere that makes for a very comfortable environment, academically and socially. The opportunities to become involved on campus open up doors that I never thought would be possible.
Name: Jason Lago Position: Secretary Class year: 2008 Major: Nursing, French minor Goals for SGA: To develop a prioritized list that depicts aspects of life at Salve Regina that need to be addressed. I want to work alongside the students at Salve Regina and I hope the student body becomes involved with these decisions. Creating positive relationships leads to more progress, which is better for the campus community as a whole. More specifically, I would like to allow for parting seniors to keep their Salve Regina e-mail addresses for a longer period of time and at a minimal fee if any. Another one of my goals is to surpass the previous year's donation to Oxfam through the Oxfam hunger banquet this November. Other involvement on campus: Men's tennis team and Student Nurse Organization One thing you truly like about Salve Regina: The community of administrators, teachers, staff, students and residents of Newport. It is small yet not too small and it will stay that way considering expansion is tough in such a historical city. The quality of the nursing program and its reputation makes me appreciate the dedication towards academic excellence.
Name: Chris Whynock Position: Treasurer Class year: 2009 Major: Administration of justice Goals for SGA: To assist the student body in any way possible by acting as a voice of the body and also helping to make Salve Regina a better place to go to school. Other involvement on campus: Wakehurst building manager, orientation leader, freshman mentor program, phonathon One thing you truly like about Salve Regina: The people at Salve Regina. All the faculty truly want to make Salve Regina a great place to go to school and are always there to help you and make you feel comfortable and prepared to face the real world after graduation.
Name: Craig Buckley Position: Public relations coordinator Class year: 2008 Major: Administration of justice and philosophy Goals for SGA: To enhance and preserve student body and administrative relations while creating a stronger sense of pride and spirit towards our university.
