New Student Seminar

First-year students will be enrolled in the New Student Seminar (GST110) during their first academic year at Salve Regina. The New Student Seminar is a one-credit course designed to help students develop the skills and attitudes, academic and social, which are crucial to becoming a successful college student and a contributor to one's community. Transfer students are placed in a Transfer Student Seminar (GST113).

The New Student Seminar and Transfer Student Seminar are designed to facilitate a student's transition to Salve Regina by focusing on student engagement, strategic learning, wellness and service learning.

New Student Seminar Instructors

New Student Seminar instructors serve as facilitators of the New Student Seminar. They are either staff or faculty members of Salve Regina and provide first-year students with adequate academic and social support.

Student Mentors

Student Mentors serve as co-facilitators of the New Student Seminar and offer first-year students information about campus resources, activities and clubs/organizations. They are also able to share their first-year experiences with the new students and are valuable resources to the students and to the program. Student mentors are recruited and selected through an application process during the second semester of the academic year.
