Salve Regina continues to add scholarship opportunities for students. In recent years, a number of new funds have been established by alumni, parents and friends that recognize achievement and provide financial assistance to qualifying students in various majors and areas of interest.
Below is a sampling of available scholarships you may choose to support.
Nursing Alumni Scholarship
Established in 2006, the Nursing Alumni Scholarship is supported by Salve Regina nursing alumni and faculty. This award is given to a nursing student demonstrates academic achievement and an understanding of the University mission in his/her actions toward others.
Study Abroad Scholarship
The Study Abroad Scholarship was established by Salve Regina faculty to support students studying abroad at a Salve Regina sponsored or affiliate program. Eligible students submit an application and letter describing their reasons for wishing to study abroad and must demonstrate financial need, academic merit and the maturity to responsibly represent the University abroad.
Vision of Mercy Endowed Scholarship
New in 2009, the Vision of Mercy Scholarship was created by Dr. Virgina Walsh, RSM, and Dr. Johnelle Luciani, RSM, to recognize students who are committed to the materially poor, to peace and justice and to working with advocacy groups on behalf of underserved individuals, all in accordance with the mission of the Sisters of Mercy. Award recipients approach the materially poor and the underserved in the tradition of Catherine McAuley, founder of the Sisters of Mercy.
Endowed Scholarship in Visual Art
Established in 2008 by Department of Art faculty, alumni and friends, this scholarship is awarded to students majoring in art. Recipients are chosen by art faculty based on creative talent and scholarship.
Theater Arts Alumni Scholarship
Inaugurated in 2010 by theater arts alumni, this scholarship benefits theater majors and is awarded annually in the fall.
Led by each year’s 25th and 50th reunion classes each year, the tradition of reunion giving continues to grow at Salve Regina.
Silver Anniversary Legacy Family Scholarship Fund
The Legacy Family Scholarship is a new tradition at Salve Regina, as more and more children of alumni attend our alma mater. Established in 2009 by the Class of 1984, this is the first scholarship at Salve Regina that is solely devoted to legacy students. Each fall the funds are divided evenly among freshmen of alumni to assist with the cost of their education.
50th Anniversary Endowed Scholarship Fund
Established in 2002, the 50th Anniversary Endowed Scholarship Fund has continued to grow each year through gifts from 50th reunion classes. The scholarship is awarded annually to a junior or senior who exemplifies commitment to the Salve Regina community through involvement in one or more of the following areas: student government, clubs/activities, athletics or community service. These students carry the Salve Regina spirit beyond graduation and remain loyal and involved alumni.
