Student Mentors [Back] Student Mentoring Program Student Mentors are individuals who have been selected to co-facilitate the freshmen seminar with a New Student Seminar Advisor. The mentor works together with a seminar advisor in creating a sense of belonging, connectedness, and familiarization to our campus and local community. The Student Mentors are responsible for meeting outside of the seminar as needed with the advisor. The student mentor is also responsible for attending the Student Mentor Practicum once a month for continued training, support, debriefing, and planning. They are also responsible for attending several First Year Experience Events, such as the freshmen picnic, Convocation, guest speakers, movies, social activities and meetings. The role of the student mentor is to serve as a resource to the freshmen enrolled in the seminar. Together with the advisor, the mentor will help present topics and lead discussions on time-management, study skills, homesickness, helping freshmen get involved with Feinstein service projects, connecting students to campus activities, and familiarizing students with campus resources and the Newport community among other topics and activities. SALVE REGINA UNIVERSITY STUDENT MENTOR CONTRACT 2004-2005Student Mentors will be expected to maintain the following standards. If at any time, the Student Mentor falls short of these standards, they will have to meet with the First Year Experience Coordinator to discuss their continuation in the program.
