First Year Experience New Student Seminar 2004-05 "Hang on for the Ride of your Life!"
The First Year Experience program is here to help the Class of 2008 make the transition as they become the newest members of the Salve Regina University community. This year's program focuses on two themes: acclimation to Salve and the Newport area, and the Building Blocks of Wellness. Students will learn about their surroundings and the rich historical tradition in Newport through classroom activities and outside events such as mansion and walking tours. Immersion into the surrounding community will not only educate first year students about the history of the area, but will help them to feel comfortable in their new home away from home. The Building Blocks of Wellness section of the program will help students with topics such as time management, stress relief, and adjustment to the college experience. Individual classes will decide on unique activities to experience building blocks and develop personal strategies that will be useful not only during their time at Salve Regina, but in their everyday lives.
