BIKE PATROL
The Salve Regina University Bike Unit was established to provide another means for safety and security on the campus. Another priority was to institute the community-policing concept in order to become more in touch with the campus community. All bike patrol officers have been through the International Police Mountain Bike Association training and have participated in community policing training sponsored by the Newport Police Department.
The bike patrol was designed to allow quick and efficient patrol and response to areas of the campus that are inaccessible to vehicles. Additionally, our goal was to create a more approachable safety and security officer. Although officers use the bike patrol to deter possible crime, they have also discovered that it is an outstanding tool to meet students, faculty, staff and visitors to the campus. We encourage you to stop and talk with an officer on bike patrol.
