Salve Regina University's health services seeks to encourage good health practices, provide programs for disease prevention, and clinical care for all members of the Salve community.
Hours of Operation:In an effort to serve the University Community better and to reduce waiting times, we have changed our hours of operation. Monday-Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. by appointment only. Walk-ins for emergencies will be accommodated as much as possible. Health Services works in conjunction with Newport Hospital to assist students during non-office hours. In an emergency or life-threatening situation students are to go to Newport Hospital Emergency Department, call 911 or phone the University Emergency Line at ext. 5555. Students may also leave a message for someone to contact them during normal office hours. The clinic is closed during the summer and during holiday breaks. Services Health Services offers a variety of specialty services including:
Fees Most primary care services are free for students enrolled in Consolidated Health Plan. Students are responsible for cost prescription drugs and some medical supplies, however, many needed prescription and non-prescription medications are available (in limited amounts) to avoid treatment delays. Please bring bring Student ID and proof of additional prescription insurance coverage (if applicable) to all health service visits. Most laboratory tests are covered by the health plan. Confidentiality The health center staff feels that assuring confidentiality for students is essential. No medical information can be discussed or released to parents, faculty or university offices without permission, except in life threatening emergencies. Your medical information will not be released without your permission. On occasion, health services receives telephone calls from parents about your medical care. If you are over 18 years of age, the health care providers are unable to release any medical information to your parents without your explicit permission. There may be times when transfer of medical care to another health care institution or organization is necessary. In order for medical information to be released, a written release must be signed by the requesting student. Please contact us for the Release of Medical Information form, fill it out and sign it. We can fax or mail it for you, if needed. Student Health Service respects and preserves the privacy and confidentiality of patient and personnel information. Information whether written, spoken, recorded electronically, or printed will receive the same level of protection. Eligibility All full time staff and undergraduate students are eligible for appointments and urgent care of sudden illness or injury.
