NEWPORT, R.I. - Ricardo Chavira, Pulitzer Prize winning journalist and senior editor for the Dallas Morning News, will present a free lecture, "Cuba after Fidel Crisis or Continuity?" tomorrow (10/29) at 6 p.m. at the Pell Center for International Relations and Public Policy. The lecture is open to the public.
Chavira joined The Dallas Morning News in 1992. He has been senior editor for national and international news since October, 2001.Chavira also worked as assistant managing editor for national and international news, international editor and assistant international editor.

From 1983 until 1992, he was a correspondent for Time magazine, serving tours in Los Angeles, Mexico City and Washington bureaus. Chavira also covered Mexico for The San Diego Union from 1979 to 1983. He received a bachelor's degree in journalism from Cal State Long Beach and a master's in mass communication from Cal State Northridge. Chavira is also a 1998 graduate of the Newspaper Management Center's Advanced Executive Program. He was a member of The Dallas Morning News' team awarded the 1994 Pulitzer Prize for international reporting and has won numerous other awards.
