SRU DANCE TO PRESENT FALL PERFORMANCE THIS WEEKEND

By University Relations Staff

SRU Dance presents its spring 2009 performance, "Right About Now."

NEWPORT, R.I. - SRU Dance, Salve Regina's student-run dance organization, will present its fall performance, "Blame It on the Boogie," at 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 21 and 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 22 in the Rodgers Recreation Center.

The performance will include 26 dances featuring hip hop, jazz, tap, lyrical, Irish step and ballet. The club boasts more than 100 performers, who will dance to the music of John Legend, the Black Eyed Peas and the Pussycat Dolls. A special Michael Jackson tribute will feature six of the late singer's greatest hits.

Admission to Saturday's performance is at least a $1 donation to the Andrea Rizzo Foundation, while admission to Sunday's performance is $5 (children young enough to sit on an adult's lap are free). Named in honor of a Salve Regina graduate who was tragically killed by a drunk driver at age 24, the Andrea Rizzo Foundation provides dance therapy to children with cancer and special needs in pediatric hospitals throughout the country.

SRU Dance is the largest student-run organization on campus and is led by six executive board members - two senior and two junior captains, a business manager and a public relations coordinator. Since its establishment in the 1990s, SRU Dance has continued to grow and gain support campus-wide and in the local community through its reputation for creativity, showcased in its two productions every year, as well as its dedication to helping the community.
