NEWPORT, R.I. - His Holiness the Dalai Lama brought his message of compassion to Salve Regina Thursday afternoon. About 4,000 members of the Salve Regina community and the general public packed a tent on the Ochre Court lawn to hear His Holiness give a public lecture and answer student questions. President M. Therese Antone, R.S.M., presented His Holiness with the first Claiborne Pell Center Award, and students Tony Vellucci '08 and Matilda Mutanguha '07 gave him a Salve Regina baseball cap on behalf of the student body.
