H. Michael Erisman is a professor of Political Science at Indiana State University in Terre Haute, Indiana. His main fields of interest are U.S. policies toward Latin America, political economy in the Caribbean Basin, and Cuban foreign affairs. He has written numerous journal articles and book chapters focusing on Caribbean international affairs in general and Cuban foreign policy in particular. He is also a member of the Editorial Board of the Journal of Latin American Society and Politics.
The Council for the International Exchange of Scholars awarded him a Senior Fulbright Fellowship in 1985-1986 at the Institute of International Relations of the University of the West Indies (St. Augustine, Trinidad). He also serves as co-chair of the Working Group on US-Cuban Relations which operates under the auspices of the Latin American Association. Among the courses that Dr. Erisman regularly teaches are introductory International Relations and International Law at the undergraduate level and graduate seminars that focus on evolving international economic relations and on the role of non-state actors in international affairs. He is currently the chairperson of the Political Science Department. His leisure time activities include tennis, home improvement projects, and (during the winter) being a TV sports couch potato.
