Frank O. Mora

Associate Professor and Chair of
International Studies at Rhodes College

Frank O. Mora is Associate Professor and Chair of International Studies at Rhodes College, Memphis, TN. He also holds the Latin American Studies Research Fellowship at Rhodes College. Professor Mora is the author of several articles and monographs on civil-military relations, democratization, US-Latin American relations, hemispheric security and Cuban politics. Some of his publications on Cuban politics and the military include: "From Fidelismo to Raulismo: Civilian Control of the Military in Cuba," Problems of Post-Communism (March-April 1999); "Comparative Study of Civil-Military Relations in Cuba and China: The Effects of Bingshang," Armed Forces and Society (Winter 2002).

Professor Mora recently served as guest editor and contributor to a special issue on Cuba, titled "Cuba: Between Retrenchment and Change," that appeared in the November-December 2001 issue of Problems of Post-Communism. Professor Mora is a contributing editor to the Handbook of Latin American Studies, Library of Congress and has worked as a consultant to the US Air Force, Institute for National Strategic Studies (INSS) of the National Defense University, and the Office of the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Inter-American Affairs.
