"Living in a residence hall can be crazy at times, but we have all bonded well. I've learned a lot about myself and others, recognizing that we all need to work together as a team. I am excited for next year as I have a good idea of what to expect."
Prior to each room draw, the floor charts of the available rooms will be posted outside the Office of Residential Life. At this time, students should get acquainted with the rooms they would like to select when they enter the room draw. They should also select roommates with whom they would like to pick a room. Once your roommate group is selected, determine which member of the group has the best time to enter the room draw. All members of your group do not need to be present to select a room; however the designated person will need all of the other member's room draw cards and Salve Regina IDs. Groups must equal the number of beds in the room that the group is selecting.
Please note that students who select a room in the room draw obligate themselves to a full academic year of university housing. Current freshmen, because of the two-year residency requirement, will not need to place a housing deposit. Each current freshmen will automatically receive a room draw card. The sophomore room draw will take place in the Rodgers Recreation Center conference room.
Students must be registered for the fall 2009 semester in order to participate in room draw. Students not registered for the fall 2009 semester may not participate.
To select a room you must have the correct number of students to fill it to capacity. Students may not draw for a room if the room is not filled to capacity. It is the responsibility of each student to find his or her own roommate.
A student is entitled to only one housing choice at room draw. Room and roommate(s) choice at room draw are binding. If at any time after room draw the occupancy of the room drops below capacity, the Office of Residential Life staff has the right to assign a student to a room without prior consent of the student(s) currently assigned to that room.
Students who believe they have reasons to be granted an exception to any room draw policies may submit a written petition on or before Friday, April 10, 2009. In order to ensure consistency and fairness in the process, room draw exceptions are rarely made.
Housing accommodations are provided on a case-by-case basis due to documented disabilities and medical conditions. To qualify as an Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) covered disability, the student must have a current condition that substantially limits a major life activity, and the accommodation must be necessary and reasonable. A diagnosis, in and of itself, does not automatically qualify for accommodations. To receive special housing consideration for medical conditions not covered by the ADA, this form must be completed, but accommodations are not guaranteed.

All requests must be made by April 1.

As a residential institution, Salve Regina places great value on the contributions a quality residential experience can make to a student's development.
Experience has shown that campus residency in the first two years of a student's college career is crucial to personal growth and refinement of social skills. All freshmen and sophomores who are not commuting to campus from their parent's residence are guaranteed housing and are required to live on campus.
Students who are allowed to commute from their parent's residence and fail to adhere to the definition of that status are billed for room and board. To assure compliance, the university reserves the right to verify a student's address at any time. It is important that you understand this policy to avoid any additional charges.
