COMPUTER LAB POLICIES

  • All users are responsible for ensuring that the facilities are used in an ethical, legal, efficient and effective manner. It is expected that every user of the computer lab facilities will show respect for others. Smoking, eating or drinking is not permitted in the labs. Anyone consuming food, beverages or smoking may be asked to leave the facility.
  • Users should make every attempt to keep conversations brief and at reasonable volume. Poor conduct and loud or offensive language are not acceptable in the lab environment. Any user wanting to listen to music while using the lab must use headphones.
  • All support documents and related materials are to be signed out by the individual through the UCL staff. At the end of each session, the individual must return all material to the UCL staff.
  • Each user is responsible for saving their own work either via CD, jump drive, disk or network folders. The UCL Staff will make all attempts to reunite owners of lost disks with their property. However, if the disk is not claimed within 10 days the disk will be considered abandoned and ownership will revert to the UCL. It may be used by the UCL Staff or other patrons as a Loaner Disk after this point and materials on it will be deleted.
  • Each user upon completing a session is expected to leave the area in a clean and neat fashion.
  • It is prohibited to load any software.
  • Please print only one copy. Multiple copies are done at the Copy Center room 022. Special paper and envelopes should only be loaded with assistance from the UCL staff in room 002.  Large print jobs, such as graduate thesis, may exceed the capacity of network. Consideration of others in the lab and assistance from the UCL staff is necessary when printing large jobs.
  • Do not tamper with or attempt to fix any mechanical, electrical, or hardware devices including computers and printers.
  • Please contact the University Computer Labs Office in room 002, or at ext. 2985, to report any problems or to ask any questions.
