SETTING UP YOUR TELEPHONE

YOU MUST ACCESS YOUR MAILBOX TO LISTEN TO YOUR MESSAGES, RECORD YOUR GREETING, OR CREATE A PASSWORD.

Call the system access number (2949) or press the message key.
Enter your password. The password is the same as your extension number until you change it.
Press # sign.

TO CREATE OR CHANGE YOUR PASSWORD, FIRST ACCESS YOUR MAILBOX

Press “9” on the main menu to select mailbox setup.
Press “2” to create or change your password.
Enter your new password using the telephone keypad, then press #.
Enter the same password again, then press #.

TO CREATE A PERSONALIZE GREETING, INCLUDING YOUR NAME AND NUMBER, FIRST ACCESS YOUR MAILBOX

Press “9” on the main menu to select mailbox setup.
Press “1” to record a greeting.
Press “4” to start recording.
Press # to end recording.

* To play the recorded greeting, press “1”. To re-record the greeting, press “4”.

This is a summary of the basic communications features of the SRU TELEPHONE SYSTEM. Some features do not apply to all telephones on campus.

FOR SINGLE–LINE PHONES

CALL FORWARD	To Activate:	With receiver down, press FORWARD KEY (diamond starts to flash)… dial extension where calls are to be forwarded … press FORWARD KEY again (diamond will be lit steadily)
CALL FORWARD	To Cancel	Press FORWARD KEY (diamond disappears)
CALL PICK-UP	To Respond to Call Pick-up	Lift handset… press CALL PICK –UP key… answer call
CALL TRANSFER	To Activate:	Press TRANSFER KEY…(call will automatically be placed on hold)… dial extension where you want to transfer call… wait for person to answer… announce call…press TRANSFER KEY again… hang up
3-WAY CONFERENCE	To Activate	Call first person you want to include in conference call…press CONFERENCE KEY (automatically puts first person on hold)…hear another dial tone …dial number of next person you want in conference … announce conference…press CONFERENCE KEY again
PERMANENT HOLD	To Activate	Press HOLD button… puts call on hold
PERMANENT HOLD	To Return	Lift handset…press flashing diamond next to call on hold…answer call.
SPEED CALL	TO PROGRAM NUMBER	With receiver down…press SPEED CALL KEY…enter SPEED CALL NUMBER(0-9) + telephone number you wish to store as you woulddial it from campus…press SPEED CALL again
SPEED CALL	To Activate	Lift handset…press SPEED CALL KEY…dial SPEED CALL number… wait for call to connect
MESSAGE	To Retrieve Messages	Lift handset…press MESSAGE KEY…follow Meridian Mail Instructions
INTERCOM	To Call Another Number In Intercom Group	Lift handset…press INTERCOM KEY… dial 2 or 3 digit Intercom group number of person you wish to call

FOR MULTI-LINE TELEPHONES

CALL FORWARD	To Activate	With receiver down… press FORWARD SOFT KEY(gray bar under the word Forward)…enter extension where calls are to be forwarded…if okay, press soft key under work “OK”…if not OK , press soft key labeled CLEAR andre-enter number … if OK now… press soft key labeled OK
	To Cancel	Without lifting handset…press soft key under CHECK FORWARD… press soft key under cancel
	To Reinstate forward to same extension	(to same number as above)…without lifting handset…press soft key under FORWARD … press soft key under FORWARD…press soft key under LAST FORWARD…if OK…press soft key under OK
CALL PICK-UP	To Respond	Lift handset…press soft key under PICK-UP… answer call
CALL TRANSFER	To Activate	Press soft key under TRANSFER…(call is automatically placed on hold)…dial extension number you want to transfer call to…announce TRANSFER…press soft key labeled CONNECT
CONFERENCE CALL	To Activate	Press soft key under CONFERENCE…(call is automatically placed on hold)…dial extension number of person you want to conference with …when second party answers …press CONNECT
SPEED CALL	To Program a Number	With receiver down… press soft key under SPEED…enter speed call number (0-9)…then telephone number you wish to store as you would dial it from campus. Press OK if number appears correctly on display.
SPEED CALL	To Activate	Lift handset…press soft key SPEED…dial speed call number you want …wait for call to connect.
LAST NUMBER REDIAL	To Activate	Lift handset…press soft key under LAST NUMBER…call is automatically dialed…wait for call to connect.
MESSAGE	To Retrieve Messages	Lift handset…press soft key MESSAGE… Follow voice instructions.
