The operating philosophy of the Office of Information Technologies is to support the university's mission and strategic plan in a manner consistent with responsible fiscal and technological practices; this philosophy is realized by the following:
- Provide technology enabling services for our faculty and students to enhance their learning environment;
- Provide state-of-the-art technologies to facilitate university business functions;

Microsoft Office 2007
Through the university's Microsoft Campus Agreement, Salve Regina has the opportunity to upgrade its standard Office suite to the latest release, Microsoft Office 2007. This latest release of Office 2007 includes several new features (approximately 176) with the two most notable being a new user interface (the 'ribbon' interface) and a new file format (XML-based). It should be noted that any documents created under the existing Office 2003 format are compatible with Office 2007.
In order to assist in the migration to Office 2007, several considerations have to be acknowledged which affect students, faculty and staff. One of the key considerations is timing and with the new academic year in the near offing, it is important that the deployment efforts begin soon.
