The following is an outline of the benefits provided by Salve Regina University to its employees. For more detailed information, call the Benefits Office at extension 2332 or (401) 341-2332.
(Staff members are eligible on the first day of the month following 30 days of employment. Faculty members are eligible on the first day of their contract.) Employees regularly working a minimum of 20-hours per week are eligible for a comprehensive health care plan. Employees may elect individual, individual-plus-one, or family coverage. The cost for full-time employees is a fixed amount determined annually by the University. The cost for part-time employees is calculated on a pro-rated basis.
Eligibility same as health care. The University pays for individual or family coverage, as needed, for all full-time employees. The cost for part-time employees is calculated on a pro-rated basis.
After a three-month waiting period, employees working a minimum of 30-hours per week are provided with insurance coverage equal to one times their annual salary to a maximum of $50,000 (65% at age 65; 50% at age 70). Optional supplemental and dependent life plans are also available.
After a one-year waiting period, employees working a minimum of 30 hours per week are provided disability coverage equal to 60% of covered monthly salary, up to a maximum of $6,500/month.
Provided through TIAA/CREF and/or AIG / VALIC, employees working a minimum of 1,000 hours/year are eligible to participate in the plan, after a two-year waiting period. The 403b plan provides individually owned annuity contracts, with the University contributing 8.5% of an employee's salary up to $51,169 and 10% on the portion of salary amounts over $51,169 (amount indexed every July).
Provided through TIAA/CREF and/or AIG / VALIC. This plan is available to employees working a minimum of 1,000 hours per year. Eligibility is immediate. This plan allows for employees to contribute to a retirement plan on a pre-tax basis.
After a three-month waiting period, full-time employees are eligible for tuition benefits (two courses per semester, one course per summer session). The part-time employee benefit is pro-rated. After two years of full-time employment, spouses or dependents may receive 50% tuition benefits for undergraduate courses. After three years of employment, the benefit increases to 100%. Part-time employees working a minimum of 20-hour per week are granted tuition benefits for dependents, after three years of employment, on a pro-rated basis.
The University is part of a program, which allows qualified dependents of staff and faculty members, with five years of full-time service, to participate in full scholarships for their dependent children at other TEP colleges/universities around the country. The University provides a confidential assessment and referral service to all regular employees. It is accessed through a toll-free number and can assist with calls concerning marital/family problems, alcohol/drug dependency, legal/financial problems, emotional distress, relationship issues and more - (800) 445-1195.
This plan allows tax savings in two ways: by a Dependent Care Reimbursement Plan and a Medical Care Reimbursement Plan. The Dependent Care Reimbursement Plan allows you to obtain reimbursement for qualified expenses related to the care of your child under the age of 12 and/or elderly, or incapacitated dependents. You may tax shelter up to $5,000 per year. The Medical Care Reimbursement Plan allows un-reimbursed medical expenses such as co-pays, eyeglasses, and deductibles, to be paid with tax-free dollars. You can tax shelter from $260 to $2,080 per plan year under this program.
On the first day of the month following 30 days of employment, employees working a minimum of 20 hours per week may purchase, on a pre-tax basis, supplemental cancer, hospital intensive care, and/or personal accident insurance.
