Aïda Mirante, Director of Financial Aid

Aïda joined the Salve Regina staff in 1997 as an assistant director of financial aid. A lifelong Rhode Island resident, Aïda received a bachelor's degree in history and a master's degree in business administration from the University of Rhode Island. Prior to her 16 years in financial aid, Aida worked in banking and has an additional seven years of student service experience working in the area of residential life. In addition to her responsibilities at Salve Regina, Aïda has also served as president of the RI Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (RIASFAA) and as RI representative to the Eastern Assoc. of Financial Aid Administrators (EASFAA). In her spare time, Aïda makes jewelry and loves to travel, hike, read, walk on the beach and listen to music, and she has a daughter in Virginia.

Barbara Beaulieu, Associate Director of Financial Aid

Barbara joined Salve Regina in 1999. With more than 16 years of experience, she has worked in almost all areas of financial aid and is currently completing a degree in business management. Her responsibilities include the processing of undergraduate and graduate student files from A-DE, Pell grant program, training of new personnel, attending conferences to keep up with new regulations, updating staff on new regulations, implementing new procedures and back up for all auxiliary functions such as the state grant program, Perkins loan program, Partnership loan program, federal loans & the alternative loan program. Her professional membership includes RIASFAA, CAPFAA, NASFAA and EASFAA. Barbara lives in Massachusetts with her husband of 24 years and two grown sons. She likes to read, swim and travel.

Kathryn Quint, Assistant Director of Financial Aid

Kathy, a native of Aquidneck Island, graduated from Salve Regina with a bachelor's degree in accounting and a minor in business administration. Kathy began her employment at Salve Regina in April 1998 as a member of the Business Office. In 2001 she joined the staff of Financial Aid. Kathy's letter group for undergraduate and graduate students includes all surnames Df-Kn, as well as all Degree Completion students. Kathy is responsible for the maintenance of the Perkins and Nursing Loan Programs. Her professional membership includes NASFAA, RIASFAA and CAPFAA. Kathy was elected in 2005 to the Executive Board of the R.I. Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (RIASFAA) as treasurer. The mother of three, Kathy enjoys gardening, ceramics and music.

Jennifer Cone, Assistant Director of Financial Aid

Jennifer joined the Office of Financial Aid staff in August 2006. She has 10 years of financial aid experience. Her undergraduate and graduate letter group includes students whose last names begin with Ko-Pi. Jenny is a welcome addition to the office and is always happy to assist parents and students with any questions or concerns they may have. A native of Rhode Island, Jenny can usually be found sailing on Narragansett Bay, when she is not spending time with her pet pig, Newton, named after the cookie.

Christopher Verleger, Assistant Director of Financial Aid

Christopher joined the Office of Financial Aid staff in September 2008. He is responsible for assisting students whose last names begin with Pj-Z. A former Boston resident, Chris previously worked at Boston University, where he earned his graduate degree in higher education administration. Chris now lives in Providence and in his spare time enjoys reading, writing and going to the theater.

Kristin Pierini, Financial Aid Secretary

A lifelong resident of Aquidneck Island, Kristin recently joined the financial aid team. She provides administrative support for the director and staff. Kristin will greet you with a friendly smile and cheerful attitude when you call or visit the Office of Financial Aid. Kristin has been married for 17 years and in her spare time she enjoys reading, traveling and spending time with friends and family, especially her four nieces and nephews.

Catalina Diaz, Financial Aid Officer/Loan Coordinator

Catalina is a recent addition to the team, joining the Salve Regina staff in 2008. She has more than six years of financial experience, stemming from her former military career as a finance specialist in the U.S. Army. At Salve Regina, she is responsible for processing FFELP (Federal Family Education Loan Program) and Alternative loans, as well as counseling students and parents on the best financial package for each individual student. She is bilingual and welcomes questions from Spanish-speaking students and parents with any financial concerns or misunderstandings. Coming from Boston, her hobbies include exploring the beautiful Newport area, exercising, photography and learning how to skateboard.

Karen Boughton, Financial Aid Assistant

Karen joined the financial aid team in August 2008. Her previous employer was the FA Bartlett Tree Experts Company, which cares for many of the beautiful trees on Salve Regina's campus. She is the proud mother to a 7-year-old girl and a 2-year-old boy and the proud stepmother to a 10-year-old girl and an 8-year-old boy. In her spare time, which is very rare, she likes to relax with her children and husband and enjoy life with them. She never gets sick of coloring and playing blocks.
