New Student/Transfer Application Process
The priority deadline for applying for financial aid is March 1, 2009. The following links will take you through the application process. Please be aware that many states, including Rhode Island, have similar deadlines for state grant eligibility, and the University cannot guarantee institutional funding after this date. Connecticut residents, please note that the priority deadline for CT state grants is February 15, 2009.
To begin the application process, new students must complete both the CSS Profile and the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
CSS Profile
- To register and complete a Profile application online, go to https://profileonline.collegeboard.com.
- Salve Regina's school code for the CSS Profile is 3759.
- The CSS Profile must be completed online. You may print out a pre-application worksheet to help you prepare necessary information.
- Helpful Tips:
- Please be aware that there is a $25 fee for the initial CSS Profile application. This covers the costs of creating your Profile application and the first school report. You will be charged $16 for each additional college or program to which you want information sent. This covers the cost of processing and reporting your information to those colleges and programs. Please have a credit card available when completing the registration and application.
- Please use estimated figures if your 2008 tax returns are not completed.
- In addition to questions about family household, income and assets, the CSS Profile will ask for information regarding home value, home debt, purchase year of home, purchase price of home, monthly mortgage or rent payment, business and other real estate value and debt.
- Please make sure to keep a copy for your records.
Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
- To complete your FAFSA online, please use the link to FAFSA on the Web, www.fafsa.ed.gov. You can register for a student and parent Personal Identification Number (PIN) when you file your FAFSA. Your PIN will enable you to electronically sign your FAFSA. If you do not obtain a PIN, please remember to print, sign and mail the signature page to the federal processor.
- The federal school code (in Section H) for Salve Regina University is 003411. This application must be filed after January 1, 2009.
- Use estimated figures if your 2008 tax returns are not completed so that you will make the March 1 deadline.
- You can file a paper form, although the processing time is much longer. Please call (800) 433-3243 to request up to three forms by mail. You may also go to www.federalstudentaid.ed.gov and download a PDF version of the FAFSA. Complete the entire form, include all signatures before mailing and keep a copy for your records. We do strongly encourage you to file online.
- You will receive a Student Aid Report (SAR) in the mail if you completed a paper FAFSA. If you completed the FAFSA online, you will receive the SAR electronically to the e-mail address you submitted when completing the FAFSA. This copy is for your records. Do not submit it to Salve Regina. We will receive your information electronically. Important: don't forget to put the Salve Regina University code, 003411.
College Board's Institutional Documentation Service (IDOC)
- Salve Regina has contracted with the College Board's Institutional Documentation Service (IDOC) to collect supporting documents from you and your family. You will receive an e-mail from the College Board which will describe IDOC in more detail and give you further instructions on what documentation you must submit to complete the financial aid process. It will include a cover sheet that must be returned to the College Board with the appropriate supporting documentation.
*Salve Regina University reserves the right to request additional information, as necessary, to determine the type and amount of financial aid awards.
