Sarah B. Kelly joined the Salve Regina community in October 2001. Her position entails connecting students with local nonprofits and creating worthwhile volunteer opportunities in which students learn not only about the Newport community, but about themselves as well. She holds a bachelor's degree from Rhode Island College and a master's degree from Roger Williams University. Before her tenure at Salve Regina, she served as an AmeriCorps Vista volunteer in Providence.
She has received several awards, including the 2002 Freshman Advocate Award, the 2004 Volunteer of the Year Award from Child & Family, the 2006 President's Volunteer Service Award and the 2007 Staff Community Service Award. She volunteers for Big Sisters of Rhode Island, serves as the adviser to Salve Regina's Circle K Club and serves on Child & Family's board of directors.

Ruth Thumbtzen joined the Salve Regina community in October 2001. Her position entails connecting schools, nonprofits and organizations from the Newport community with Salve Regina. Before her tenure at Salve Regina, she taught health and physical education at Thompson Middle School for 30 years.
She received the 2001 Woman of the Year Award from the Rhode Island Commission on Women and the 2003 Women of Courage and Vision Award from Salve Regina. She serves on the university's multicultural committee and department of education diversity advisory committee and is a founding member of Salve Regina's Aquidneck Island Multicultural Scholarship.

Originally from Lynn, Mass., Cheryl Lemenager is a senior majoring in political science with a concentration in comparative government, religious studies and philosophy. She is a Pell Scholar, vice president of Sigma Phi Sigma, member of Delta Epsilon Sigma, a Who's Who recipient and an AmeriCorps volunteer. Her duties as a work-study student include helping to connect students with local service opportunities and encouraging students to volunteer.
Locally, her volunteer service includes Child & Family's Positive Role Model program, Alternative Spring Break trips to New Orleans and Kentucky, the St. Clare Home and CommUniversity Day. At home in Lynn, she volunteers for local soup kitchen My Brother's Table, Catholic Charities and a local food pantry.
