What is the Feinstein Enriching America Program (FEAP)?
The FEAP introduces freshman students to the benefits of service learning during their first year within the context of the New Student Seminar.
What is the relationship between FEAP and the New Student Seminar?
Completion of the FEAP is necessary to earn a “P” passing grade and credit in the New Student Seminar. The FEAP is the service learning component of the New Student Seminar, a 2 credit course for all first year students. When FEAP is completed a “P” (no academic credit) is recorded on the academic transcript as FEAP (GST111).
How can a student get involved in community service?
By visiting the Community Service Office to learn about programs and agencies available in the local community. Also, throughout the academic year the office will sponsor events related to community service for the entire student body. In addition, posters, flyers and e-mails will furnish information on a variety of programs.
What type of community service programs are available?
Programs vary from working with children, with the elderly, working in a sports oriented atmosphere or in local soup kitchens, helping with local food drives, working with animals, tutoring, environmental projects and many more.
Who determines what constitutes a community service program or experience?
All programs offered by the community service office are bona fide community service projects. Other projects must be approved by the community service office before they can be considered appropriate for a community service experience. The Community Service Review Committee reserves final approval for community service experiences associated with FEAP.

The Feinstein program is housed in the community service office, located
in Miley Hall, first floor. The phone number is extension 3346 (FEIN).
How to complete the Feinstein Enriching America
Program
- Discuss with your advisor about any opportunities for individual and
or group projects.
- Attend the volunteer opportunity fair in September on the grounds of
Wakehurst Student Center.
- Make contact with the agency of your choice.
- Set up time for interview and schedule volunteer time with agency representative.
- Contact community service
office at ext. 2440 with time(s) you need to be transported to and from
the program. This should be done at least 48 hours in advance.
- After finishing your service you must have a Community Service Verification
Form completed and signed by the agency supervisor.
