Message to students:

When looking for an internship, it is important to keep a few things in mind. The first and most important tip I can give would be to always put your best foot forward. It is important to be professional all the time, and to everyone because you never know who has the ability to present you with an opportunity.

While working at ABC News, I found that it is also important to stand out. For instance, volunteer when needed, stay after hours, and do things without being asked. Go the extra mile, because that is what leaves a lasting impression on your supervisors.

In addition, being able to work well with others is essential.  The Good Morning America office was referred to as the “GMA Team.” The office was working together as a whole and everybody played a part, so it is important to be a team player.

Lastly, flexibility is necessary. It is important to keep an open mind and be ready for anything that might come your way.

Graduation Year: 2006
Major/Minor: Psychology/Information Systems Management
Degree: BA

Current Employer: Medical Information Technology
Title: Applications Specialist

Message to students:

I waited far too long to start my search for employment. I think it is very important that all students visit the Career Development Center starting even in their first year. It is important to know that it is never too early to start writing your resume. I didn't know what I wanted to do when I was a freshman, but I do wish that I had gone to career fairs and researched a few companies before doing so. You can find out so much about a company through information that the Career Development Center can provide or even on their website.

In conclusion:

-Be Proactive!
-Start your Career Search Early
-Find out how to write a resume (Career Development will show you)
-Research Companies anyway you can
-Good Luck
