"As a former Sister of Mercy most of my Salve Regina college education was obtained 'off campus' at Bay View, therefore, I do not have the association with a class or usual college experiences…  Of my brief summer two months on campus, my favorite memories are…a room in Ochre Court with a view of the main entrance and studying in the old library while looking out at the Cliff Walk with the sparkling Atlantic backdrop!"
- Patricia O'Brien Lussier '66

"My favorite memory of Salve Regina is the very first time I saw our beautiful campus.  I had transferred from a school I did not like very much, and stepping on to Salve Regina's campus gave me an overwhelming sense of peace and happiness.  Salve Regina is where I made my closest friends. Salve Regina, for the four years I was there, was my home and I will always feel that going back to SRU will be like going home."
- Katherine P. Small '05

"One of my class' first nursing courses was 'Interpersonal Relationships,' basically, how to talk with patients in a variety of settings.  I was assigned an elderly resident (Ms. Burr) at the Newport Baptist Home on Shepard Avenue (a building no longer a home and now owned by Salve Regina). She was a former Divinity student and had a keen mind. We took a shine to each other and that semester course never really ended. A member of Newport's Historical Society, she helped open me up to our surroundings.  We took outings from the home sightseeing and dining in Newport.  I remember having my first taste of Shepard's Pie at the Black [White] Horse Tavern with her. Over the years I'd ride my bike to the Home and join in on its happenings. Our correspondence, via letters, followed me on my army assignments until the Home informed me of her passing."
- Cathleen M. Cullen '73

"The honor of working with three brothers who were confined to wheel chairs.  Then I was certain that I wanted to be a Special Education Teacher.  Sister Kathryn Mary Murphy was my inspiration."
- Anne Drury Andrade '68

"The beauty of the campus especially walking along the Cliff Walk and seeing the marvelous historic buildings and the glint of the sun against the ocean, along with hearing the sound of the waves against the rocks."
- Judith C. Parisi '69

"When I graduated summa cum laude and was the class valedictorian.  I was the older student grandmother at the time of my graduation.  All the teachers I had at Salve Regina were great and caring teachers.  I am very proud to say I am a graduate of Salve Regina University."
- Rose Laranjo Northup '81

"I remember taking a final exam in Sister Ellen Rita's classroom overlooking Salve Regina 's stunning ocean view thinking that if I had to be taking a final exam right now, this is the place to do it!"
- Kendra L. Martin '94

"Showing up to Miley Hall- 1 week late because of Hurricane Bob in September 1991- to meet my roommate and best friend.  It's not only the endless encouragement I got from my English professor Dr. Littlefield to pursue my dream of becoming a journalist, but actually believing in myself because my teachers believed in me. Also, the lasting and lifelong friends.  My freshman roommate is my best friend; we were in each others wedding and now I'm Godmother to her daughter."
- Allison Kaufman Fagan '95

"My favorite memories of Salve Regina include two wonderful and exceptional teachers, Tina Wray, who always showed us love and support throughout our courses, Sister Therese Antone and her wonderful humor to get us all to graduation, and of course, the beautiful and extraordinary campus as well as all the amazing friends I have made and kept.  The teachers, the beauty, and the elegance are beyond any other university in the world.  Also, one of my favorite memories includes Dr. Hoffman.  Without [the] Dr. Hoffmans, Tina Wrays, and Sister Therese Antones, believe in me, I may have never made it through.  Salve Regina University shall always be commended highly throughout my life to others because of its beauty and the closeness and friendships formed that Salve Regina provides to each and every student throughout life."
- Michael F. Carollo '01

"Seeing Salve Regina for the first time with my parents and the nuns welcoming us to dine in Miley Hall…Freshman year and my French instructor, Mrs. Arlette Hopkins, who spoke with a wonderful, native Parisian accent…Studying philosophy sophomore year with Sister Eloise and her thoughtful and well-prepared lectures on Man and His Nature… Sister Corleen's marvelous history courses, including Latin American History, History of the Far East, and Russian History.  She challenged us to think, to analyze and to interpret as historians…Queen Hall and the night of the blackout in November 1965. We didn't know until the following day that the entire northeast had been affected…Father-daughter weekends.  My Dad enjoyed the dances at Ochre Court with the nuns looking down from the balcony…The Holly Dinner at Miley Hall followed by the Candlelight Ceremony at Ochre Court. This was a lovely Christmas tradition.  We then exchanged gifts with our Christmas "angels" in the dorms…The Sisters of Mercy always giving us their best in a nurturing and stimulating academic environment."
- Patricia A. Roberts Tredway '69
