Making a Decision

Evaluate Majors on Your "Short" List

  • Prioritize the information you've gathered on yourself.
  • Consider only the most significant interests, aptitudes, and values.
  • Organize important major information on a chart so you can easily compare choices.
  • Use general categories such as skills needed, salary, length of training, etc.
  • List pros and cons for all options.
  • Consider the feasibility of a second major or making one of your options a minor.
  • If you are still having difficulty deciding on a major, talk to an advisor or career counselor, who can help guide you through the decision making process and suggest additional resources.
