NEWPORT, R.I. – Salve Regina art professor Jay Lacouture will show some his work and
present a talk as part of a group show currently being exhibited at the
Community College of Rhode Island, Knight Campus Art Gallery in Warwick.
Lacouture will present his talk during the opening reception of the “CCRI
Ceramics Invitational” on Tuesday, March 5 at 5 p.m., speaking on the
development of his work over the years. Work from his “Post-Industrial Mingware
Series,” inspired from his 2009 residency in China, is being exhibited in the
show, which runs through March 29. The pieces are sodavapor glazed porcelain.
This exhibition
combines the talents of locally, regionally and nationally known ceramic
artists with the work of current and former CCRI ceramics faculty and students.
This unique show features both a wide range of work and makers. In addition to
Lacouture, James Lawton of the University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth will
speak. Salve Regina alumni Andrew Maglathlin, will also be part of the exhibit.
The exhibition is made
possible by support from the Charles Sullivan Fund for the Arts and Humanities.
