Salve Regina community celebrates final Mass in Ochre Court

NEWPORT, R.I. - Members of the Salve Regina community today (Tuesday, June 15) will bid farewell to the chapel that has served them for more than 60 years, when the final Mass will be celebrated in Ochre Court at 12:30 p.m. 

This closing Mass will be a special liturgy to give thanks and to say goodbye. At the end of Mass, the doors will be ceremoniously closed and members of the congregation will be invited to carry selected items in procession to Our Lady of Mercy Chapel.
 
On Wednesday, June 16, the Salve Regina community will celebrate its first liturgy in Our Lady of Mercy Chapel at noon. From this point on, both weekday and Sunday Masses will be held in the new chapel.
 
The schedule will be Monday through Thursday at noon and Sunday at 11 a.m. When students return in September, the 7 p.m. Mass will also resume. The chapel will be open during the day for private prayer and meditation. 
 
TheMercy Center for Spiritual Life is now located on the garden level of Our Lady of Mercy Chapel. There is a spacious common room where students and other members of the Salve Regina community are welcome to gather, relax and recharge. The Mercy Center is a place of hospitality for the entire Salve Regina community and visitors are always welcome.
