NEWPORT, R.I. – Learning Unlimited participants who published a collection of their own personal stories in a book titled “Defining Moments: A Celebration of Turning Points” will host a book-signing event at Salve Regina University’s McKillop Library on Thursday, Nov. 11 from 6-8 p.m.
The Learning Unlimited Program is an initiative of Salve Regina’s education department that promotes an inclusive learning community. Participants include people with developmental disabilities, their families, friends and support staff, along with Salve Regina student volunteers and education department faculty.
Working as teams, Salve Regina students and their adult partners participate in weekly classes, library sessions and computer lab activities, enjoying the most modern adaptive technologies.
This team approach offers the adult learner a non-threatening, interactive experience that contributes to the development of self-esteem and personal accomplishment, and motivates the students to learn and try new things within the educational setting.
