Salve Regina hosts second annual Watershed Conference

Friday, September 17, 2010
NEWPORT, R.I. – Salve Regina University and the Aquidneck Island Watershed Council will present the results of the year’s water testing program during a public conference at Bazarsky Lecture Hall, located in the O’Hare Academic Center on Ochre Point Avenue, on Thursday, Sept. 30 from 5 to 8 p.m.

The purpose of the conference is to educate and engage the public on local watershed issues so they can be part of the solution to keep drinking water clean and abundant.

The keynote speaker will be Dr. Eric Strauss, former director of the Urban Ecology Institute at Boston College and current presidential professor at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles.

The conference will feature reports from the Citizen/Scientist water testing teams and will offer opportunities for participants to test water samples from their homes or local stream or pond. Students, teachers or anyone interested in learning more about our watershed sources are invited to attend.
