NEWPORT, R.I. – “Casting Call: Stanford White’s Wicked Women,” a thought provoking whodunit set in 1895, will premiere at the newly refurbished Casino Theatre (designed by Stanford White himself) on Friday, Oct. 22 at 7 p.m.
Produced by the Marley Bridges Theatre Company (formerly Beechwood Theatre Company), tickets to the show are $20 and can be purchased at www.tinyurl.com/salvecasino or by calling (401) 341-2250. All proceeds will support Salve Regina’s theatre arts program.
In the show, Stanford White, known for his scandalous reputation as womanizer, is hosting auditions for his next cast of chorus girls for his upcoming follies. Audience members will join White as he scrutinizes the talent with the help of other society judges.
Female guests will be encouraged to take a number and audition – who knows, they could knock White dead with their song and dance. Suddenly, there are gunshots, glass breaking, and a scream. As the lights come up, one of the potential talents is dead. What will happen next? Audiences will be able to explore the newly renovated theatre as they search for a killer.
Marley Bridges Theatre Company is a non-profit arts organization dedicated to fostering the arts throughout Newport County. MBTC specializes in non-traditional interactive, historical and educational theatre programming, with a penchant for mystery.
