NEWPORT, R.I. – Salve Regina University’s department of performing arts will present three holiday concerts beginning this week, all of which are open to the public. All concerts are $8 for general admission and $5 for senior citizens and students.
On Friday and Saturday, Dec. 10 and 11, the Christmas Choral Concert, “Gloria in Excelsis Deo,” will be presented on both nights at 8 p.m. in Ochre Court, 100 Ochre Point Ave., on Salve Regina’s campus.
The concert will feature the university chorus, Madrigals, men’s and women’s ensembles, and soloists. Selections will include Vivaldi’s Gloria, with orchestra, student soloists, and other holiday favorites.

On Sunday, Dec. 12, the Newport Community Symphonic Band will present its holiday concert at 3 p.m. at the newly renovated Casino Theatre on the grounds of the International Tennis Hall of Fame, 9 Freebody St.
Directed by Peter Davis, the band will perform seasonal music. The performance will also include the jazz and percussion ensembles. Admission is payable in advance or at the door.
On Tuesday, Dec. 14, the Newport County Orchestra will present its holiday concert at 7:30 p.m. at the Casino Theatre.
Directed by Joseph Ceo, the ensemble is composed of students from Salve Regina, musicians from the community and advanced local high school players. The program will feature the music of Mozart, Vivaldi, Anderson, Boyce, Holst, and Massenet. Admission is payable at the door for this event.
