Wednesday, November 14, 2012

NEWPORT, R.I. – The public is invited to join members of the Salve Regina University community in donating relief items that will be delivered to New Jersey, where residents continue to struggle in the aftermath of Superstorm Sandy.

A U-Haul U-Box pod currently stationed on the Salve Regina campus on Leroy Avenue, just outside Our Lady of Mercy Chapel, is open to receive donations between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. weekdays through Friday, Nov. 16, after which it will be transported to the College of New Jersey to be disseminated to those most in need.

Salve Regina has partnered with The College of New Jersey’s Here for Home campaign, which focuses on helping the needs of residents throughout the college’s home state. Community members are asked to donate the following non-food items: warm clothing, especially for children (new or lightly used); blankets (new or lightly used); batteries; paper plates and cups; bleach; diapers; cleaning supplies and toiletries.
