NEWPORT, R.I. – Extensions Dance Company, Salve Regina University’s select group of dancers, will perform in original pieces that range from contemporary ballet to jazz when they take the stage at the Casino Theatre on March 25 and 26.
Performances will be held on Friday, March 25 at 8 p.m. and twice on Saturday, March 26 at 3 and 8 p.m. at the Casino Theatre, 9 Freebody St. Tickets are $15 for general admission, $10 for military and seniors aged 65 and older, and $7 for students. Additionally, a special preview performance will be given on Thursday, March 24 at 8 p.m. with tickets available to the general public for $5 at the box office only on the night of the performance.
Extensions Dance Company is directed by Lindsay Guarino, assistant professor of dance at Salve Regina. Guarino joined the faculty in 2006 and has since taught a wide range of dance technique and lecture classes while facilitating the growth of the dance program. She has set works to Extensions and numerous dance studios and festivals across the country.
The performance will also feature choreographed works by faculty member Ali Brodsky and guest choreographers Jodi Leigh Allen and Eva Marie Pacheo.
Allen has performed in Julie Taymor’s Die Zauberflote (The Magic Flute) as well as Romeo et Juliette at The Metropolitan Opera House in New York City. She has been a member of Malashock Dance and Company in California and was privileged to study and perform the tango with actor Robert Duvall.
Pacheco is the artistic director of Providence Ballet Theatre and the Providence Youth Ballet. A Rhode Island native, she was a founding member of Festival Ballet under the direction of Christine Hennessy and Winthrop Cory. She has performed with the Island Moving Company of Newport for 15 years.
The program will also include choreography by Salve Regina student choreographers Emily Paquin ‘12, Amanda Studt ‘11, Emily Sulock ‘12, and Alex Zarlengo ‘11.
