University plans prayer vigil for students injured in automobile accident

NEWPORT, R.I. – A prayer vigil for four Salve Regina University students who were injured in an automobile accident early this morning will be held tomorrow (Friday, Sept. 10) at 8 p.m. at Our Lady of Mercy Chapel, corner of Ochre Point and Leroy avenues.
 
The students remain hospitalized at Rhode Island Hospital. The media has reported that the students, all sophomores, are Christopher Wands, 19, of Port Washington, N.Y.; Michael Canning, 19, of Massapequa, N.Y.; Christopher Connors, 19, of Garden City, N.Y.; and Ian Cadzin, 19, of East Rockaway, N.Y.
 
“Our primary concern as a University community is for the health and well-being of these young men,” said Kristine Hendrickson, associate vice president of university relations and chief communications officer. “Our thoughts and prayers continue to be with them and their families."
 
Details of the accident are still under investigation by the Newport Police.
