NEWPORT, R.I. – Salve Regina University is offering a special topic graduate level course that examines the international political environment and its effect upon women.
The international relations course, “Women in the International Political Environment,” runs through July 2.
The course focuses on various geographical regions of the world (as well as cultural and religious systems that are not bounded by political borders) themes of violence and oppression against women will be countered with progress being made toward women’s rights through political processes and international law.
Comparative in its approach, the seminar explores the distinguishing features and implications for women within an international framework of political, legal, and social systems. Its objective is to understand the institutions of international relations from the perspective of gender and how women are both subjects and objects within international relations.
