NEWPORT, R.I. – The public is invited to join the Salve Regina University community on Wednesday, Dec. 4 at 7 p.m. for an interfaith gathering to celebrate peace and justice in the world. Hosted for the 12th year by the university’s Mercy Center for Spiritual Life, the “Festival of Lights” celebration will be held in the Great Hall of Ochre Court, 100 Ochre Point Ave.
Admission is free and open to the public.
The evening will include the lighting of the Diwali Diyas, The Chanukiah, the Advent Wreath and the Fanoos along with prayers and music. Sacred music and movement artists, Christopher and Katherine Carbone, will lead a participatory dance for peace and student dancers will perform to a piece choreographed by Salve student Amanda Morton.
